Wasteful No Matter What

Just a quick thought.  Having barbecues got me thinking about the wastefulness of using paper plates and cups.  I'm sure most people agree that despite their convenience, these things are pretty bad for the environment  This is just paper that isn't meant to be recycled after all.  And I won't even get into the styrofoam varieties.

 

So to save paper, I thought, well why not make an effort and use light plastic dishes that can be washed and reused.  That would be more environmentally-friendly, right?  Well, probably not.  With the amount of dishes to wash after a large barbecue, think about the amount of water you need to use.  Not to mention the fact that you're sending potentially pollutant soap down the drain.

 

In any case, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
